Steak Night

A while back I had a post regarding to sauce or not sauce. Once again I decided to try a new steak sauce. It was hard to get a picture because you can't tell anything by it when you look at it. My inspiration was an Au Jus sauce and I wanted to make something a little thicker (prob should have added more jelly), yet it didn't turn out as thick as I would liked. I think if I make it again I would use it on top of asparagus or as a light salad dressing just something other then steak. It mainly tasted like the balsamic vinegar and a hint of "I know there's something else but can't put my finger on it".

Jalapeno Pepper Sauce

1/2 cup beef broth
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons jalapeno pepper jelly

Heat broth, vinegar and jelly in a skillet and cook 5 minutes or until slightly thickened, stirring frequently. Spoon sauce over steaks.

  2. Hi Allie,

Man this is making me hungry. Haven't had a good steak in a long time. Love the idea of Pepper Jelly basically with anything. It's my favorite with Lamb. Maybe try Worcestershire sauce next time instead of the balsamic vinegar. BV can be really overpowering.

  4. Oh, Allie, you made me homesick with the Fredericksburg Farms pepper jelly. I don't know if you bought it in Fredericksburg or locally, but I love that town. Also pepper jelly is always in my fridge. Your steak looks great.

  8. It looks really good. I find whenever I use Balsamic vinegar it does tend to overpower the other ingredients. I do love it though!
