Homemade Vicks Shower Disk

IMG_0651 (800x533)

As most of you know Winter time means cold and flu time as well. I thought it would be a nice touch to add these little gems in my gift baskets this year. All you need to do is pop one of these in the shower and you’ll be feeling better in no time.

I made my own tags which you can download HERE if you would like. I just cut them out and used double stick tape to attach them to the bags.

Homemade Vicks Shower Disk

(Inspired by Eco Crazy Mom)

Printer Friendly Version

1 cup Baking soda

1/3 cup Water

Essential oils: eucalyptus, rosemary, and lavender.

Muffin tin

Muffin liners

Add baking soda to a mixing bowl.

Slowly add water until you’ve made a thick paste. You’ll want the mix to feel like putty.

Add 15 drops of each essential oil.

Spoon into a muffin tin and let sit out for 12-18 hours. You can also bake these, but I just left them out overnight. When you spoon the mixture in the tins it will look lumpy like the one on the left. To get a smooth top use the back of the spoon or your finger and lightly pat the mixture until it’s smooth.

Pop these suckers out of the paper liner, plop it in your shower, and let the essential oils steam away your stuffy nose. You can put them anywhere on the floor of the shower; it doesn’t matter where!

Tip: For anyone who is having issues with these being “crumbly”, try baking for 20 minutes at 350. THEN add a few drops of each essential oils to the cooled “puck”.
