Baby Items Review and Giveaway

IMG_2920 (800x533)

Being a new mom is hard! It is a little like I expected it to be, but I forgot that I’m responsible for A LOT of my child’s choices. Every time I felt like I mastered him, something new happened like teething, eating food or sippy cups. What he wears, what he eats, what he does, what and when he does things…..the list goes on and on. I guess things will never change and he’ll still need me when he’s grown and out of the house, but I’m ok with that. I’ve learned a lot more then I bargained for having a child and now I can be one of those parents other new parents can lean on.

We are part of a playgroup which I love and couldn’t have asked to be involved with a better group of people. Travis has come out of his shell and learned how to socialize with others, which is something I can’t teach him on my own. I was a little nervous at first. I was worried, will these moms judge me? Will they lecture me about doing something wrong? I didn’t know if I should bring all name brand things because that’s what the moms on tv did. It’s like the first day of school all over again!

I quickly learned it doesn’t matter what brand you go with. I’m one of those crazy people that taste everything I give my child before he has it. I want to know if it’s good or not otherwise why would I feed it to my child? I’ve tried name brand puffs, which get pricy and now after trying the Cottontails, Parent’s Choice and Little Puffs they all taste the same. I almost felt like these other brands where a little lighter and just as tasty. The same thing happened with the yogurt dots and squeezable foods. Why buy a higher priced item for the same product? If you are worried about brands you can always save the container and pour in the other brands. I usually used recycled coffee creamer container to put all the snacks in anyways to eliminate loosing a lid (which my kid loves to throw), plus it has a nice smaller pour spout so I don’t have them dump out everywhere. The point is if you’re all about the brands great, but if you are open to trying some others out it’s really worth a shot. Sure a $1 here and there doesn’t seem like much, but times that per how many pouches of food you buy it adds up very quickly!

I know you are thinking, but don’t you make your own baby food? I do, but I can’t always carry an ice chest with me or a microwave. These little pouches work great when we are out and about. Think of it just like an adult you don’t always carry your won food with you do you? We all eat out on occasion, so I’m ok with letting my child have pre-packaged food. I also like using them on flavors that I know I’m not going to make myself like pomegranate or prunes. The meat ones for sure only because it really grosses me out to puree meat. The puffs work great to keep little man from screaming his head off while I heat up dinner. He’s impatient when it comes to food.

Still not convinced? Check this out…. I took a picture of Gerber Graduates Sweet Potato Puffs and Meijer Baby Sweet Potato Little Puffs. Ummmm you make the call. Honestly when I put them both in front of my son he ate them both. So for me it comes down to cost over time.

  1. I would love for my sweet baby niece Zoie to try those Puree Pouches.

Her mommy is Brenda and her email address is iambtwoj at gmail.com

Zoie was a blessing as my 46 YO sister (47 now) did not think she could get pregnant. What a surprise they pulled on us.
